At Kraken 3D Studios, we aim to elevate tabletop adventures. Our vision led us to launch our Kickstarter campaign, Kraken Fantasy Dungeons. This project features a fully modular dungeon system, packed with intricate miniatures and 3D-printable terrain. It transforms any session into an unforgettable quest.
The Start of a Dream
Back in 2021, Kraken Studios was just a concept fueled by passion and late-night creativity. A small group of artists and creators joined forces during one of the most challenging years in recent memory. Despite limited time and resources, we poured our hearts into our work. This was the beginning of an exciting journey.
Kraken Fantasy Dungeons became our first significant step into 3D-printed gaming. The campaign laid the foundation for Kraken 3D Studios, a comprehensive creative studio focused on digital sculpting, prototyping, and storytelling through 3D printing.
What Was Included in the Campaign
This project offered an impressive collection of printable STL files, including:
Over 200 modular terrain pieces: Fully compatible with popular tabletop RPGs like Heroquest, Warhammer Quest, Dungeoneers Descent, Dungeons & Dragons, and Pathfinder. Assemble custom dungeons tailored to your narrative-driven games.
Highly detailed miniatures: A wide variety of heroes, monsters, and NPCs are intricately crafted to bring fantastical worlds to life.
Interactive accessories: From deadly traps to secret doors and treasure chests, these elements elevate excitement in every game session.
Smart connection system: Our innovative design allows terrain pieces to fit together seamlessly—no clips or magnets needed. This makes it easier to set up and take down your scenarios.
Stretch goals unlocked: Thanks to our amazing backers, we added new monsters, hidden rooms, ruined corridors, and ancient relics to enhance your campaigns further.
Innovative Kraken Technology
The development of Kraken Fantasy Dungeons posed a thrilling challenge for our team. We wished to create a stunning system that was also modular, user-friendly, and compatible with common 3D printers.
Here’s a glimpse behind the curtain:
Design with gamers in mind: We listened to what players desired for their tabletop worlds. The result? Beautifully sculpted pieces that blend aesthetics with functionality.
Prototyping and testing: We used printers like the Creality Ender 3 for PLA terrain and the Formlabs Form 3 for resin miniatures, ensuring every element was tested for printability across different devices.
Optimized STL files: Every file was meticulously cleaned and optimized for easy printing with high detail and minimal support needs.
